A talanton (τάλαντον) was a unit of weight and money in the ancient world — roughly 75 pounds of silver, worth about 20 years of a laborer’s wages. In the Parable of the Talents, a master entrusts his servants with these enormous sums. Two invest and multiply them. One buries his in the ground. The master rewards the ones who put it to work.
We took that literally.
